Very soft and very comfortable! Waterproof and warm!

Stylish and super comfy combo! I have a cashmere scarf I usually wear in the winter, but I'll be trading this one for it this year. These are soooo comfortable! Though it has a pouch for hand warmers, I don't believe you'll need them except in the most extreme weather. This combo is warm, very warm. My wife tried it on and loves it so much that she ordered one for herself straight away! It's long enough to cover your ears if you'd like to, but also not too long if you don't. I got the med/lg size, and it fits perfectly! Can't wait for the cold to test them outdoors.

Made specifically for that EXTRA LARGE head in mind 🎳

NOTES: - EXCELLENT quality—very PREMIUM product! 🥇 - Extremely flattering, but will be too big for you unless you have an ENORMOUS head—this caters to those who can’t fit “normal size” hats - Warm, velvety lining - All parts of hat finished—very polished construction 👌 - Fleece neck warmer has elastic toggle to cinch it in—very soft & warm, also finished inside, so no exposed seams ——— I have a bowling ball head, but it’s apparently not *that* big, so I’ll be adding an elastic band to mine—I really love it, though! Materials & workmanship are top-tier, and I’m SO excited to wear it! 😀👏 It looks great on, and if most other hats bind & give you a headache, this one shouldn’t—I don’t think I’ve encountered a hat of this diameter before! This hat & neck warmer set is stellar in every way—HIGHLY recommend for real-life bobble heads! 😆

Stay warm in the winter weather

Stay warm in the cold with this wool blend set. Soft merino wool without the itch that regular wool can have. The bill on the cap helps keeps the weather out of your face.

HUBBY LOVES IT

Bought this for my hubby for Christmas. (arrived in time)
He works outside. not only for WORK, but also here on the farm, and taking care of everything. He wanted something to keep him warm but also the visor like his hat. SO I FOUND THIS, and it was a hit. it even came with the adjustable scarf that's shown (which I didn't notice it did when I bought it because I was more worried about the hat itself).
Will most likely buy him another one (or two) so he can rotate them out and I can wash them.

Comfort and warmth

Product description is 100% accurate. Definitely a great accessory to protect head and face from frigid cold winter temps, winds and snow. Style, quality and size were perfect.

Warm hat

I wore this hat out in the rain (Light) for about an hour, it kept my head dry and warm. Will have to try it out in heavier rain to see if it holds up. The neck gaiter is nice, not too bulky you can cinch it up for a tighter fit around your neck and soft. This comb should be nice on those cold wet days.

Comfy winter headgear

Look and feel great, with decent thickness and weight for some real protection. Claimed a lot, only time will tell after going through winter weather elements. Only complaint is deep crown, probably too much for most people, except the long hair or those wanting to pull all the way down front and back. For now, can only base on face value...

Nice cold weather gear with some style

This is quite the headgear/neckgear combo for cold and wet weather. With the hat pulled down tight and the fleece scarf pulled up, it makes a pretty good defense against the elements, all while looking nice. I will say the hat is pretty big, even the medium/large size I got.

If my head was any smaller, the M/L size hat would be too big, but I probably have a slightly larger than average head size, so it is fine in my situation, but if you have a normal size head, you might think twice. The XL/XXL size must be huge!

The hat is comfortable and has enough coverage on the sides to cover most of my ears. The scarf can be pulled up to cover the remaining exposed bits. Everything seems well made and has a durable feel. I haven't tested the waterproof membrane, but it's nice to know it's there. I also like having a brim compared to the normal beanies I usually wear.

Brim for snow glare

I hike with my dog most mornings, all year round. Last year the glare from the rising sun on the snow meant having to wear a hat with a brim and pulling a stocking cap over that to keep my ears warm. Obviously I havent field tested this hat in August but I have high hopes come winter it will do the trick. i knocked a star off because the crown is really tall. If youve got a lot of hair or are wearing dreadlocks this hat will be great for the rest of us its a little strange. I have a larger head (fathead is what I hear from my wife) and the Med/Large fits nicely, there is some stretch to it. It does have a knit band that can be pulled down over your ears and comes with a fleece gaiter if you dont like scarfs. All in all its a well made and supposedly water proof piece of headgear that will solve the glare issue on early morning hikes, Id recommend.

Functional and practical brimmed beanie. Wool content very low. Primarily fleece.

I pretty much always wear brimmed hats when I'm out in the field. When the temperature drops I choose beanie hats that are thin enough to wear underneath my usual brimed hats. There's advantages to that approach but sometimes it's nice to have a simple all-in-one option. Which this cap provides.

This cap is advertised as being wool, which strictly speaking is true. But wool content is fairly low and many of the advantages of wool are negated because of its three layer design. The inner layer is 100% fleece. It's soft, short fiber, and feels of good quality. The middle layer is a waterproof membrane. In my testing, remembering did indeed prove to be waterproof. And finally a 50% wool 50% poly blend outer layer. It wouldn't surprise me if there was additional DWR on this fabric as well as it beads water very well.

Garments with fleece linings and wool outer layers aren't unheard of. I have a ludicrously expensive wool jacket that uses that approach right next to me. But that combo usually does not have a non water permeable membrane in the middle. Because doing so eliminates one of the chief advantages of wool. By having the membrane you lose the moisture management and breathability properties of wool. The police used in the inner layer appears to have shorter fibers which wick sweat very well, but the moisture has nowhere to go because the membrane is in the way. Fleece usually repels water pretty well but when it gets wetted out it loses much of its heating properties. As the outer layer gets more and more wet from precipitation the relatively low 50% wool content should continue to provide some warming properties. But you lose out on the breathability, moisture management, and antimicrobial properties of wool. Because you have the membrane in the way.

With all that said, even if wool does keep most of insulated properties when wet, no one particularly likes to wear a wet hat if they can help it and the presence of moisture will inherently be cooler. So as a wool nerd the use of the membrane is annoying but from a practicality standpoint, the membrane is more comfortable for everyday use. Because it keeps the inner layer dry and comfortable as long as you don't end up overheating and sweat through the lining.

The cap is quite tall which means the brim sits fairly low on my head. Which normally would be fine but I have glasses that push up against the brim. I can orient the hat so that it fits a little bit more comfortably on the head, but I would prefer a version with a little shorter crown. But I do like the circumference, I prefer I have to run a little looser so the fit is quite nice for my preferences and true to the listed sizes.

The hat also comes with a fleece buff/neck gator with shock cord and cord lock adjustment. I found it to be kind of an afterthought. It's also made of noticeably cheaper fleece than the lining of the cap. It's a nice bonus I suppose but personally I would prefer the hat alone. Either with increased wool content for the same price. Or final price being cheaper because of the exclusion of the neck gaiter.

I found thermal performance be quite good and comparable to some of my higher priced cold weather hats. Even with my note about the presence of the neck gaiter, I do think the price is quite reasonable and this is a hat with a good amount of value. I think it's worth considering if you're looking for a warm-brimmed hat without breaking the bank.

Great Cap To Keep You Warm In Worst Winter Weather

When you've got a dog, you know that walking is a daily thing, sometimes it does feel like a chore, especially when the weather is horrible.

So finding the Merino Wood Waterproof Visor beanie with neck covering was great. This thing is so soft. It's not like the wool products of yesteryear. This is really soft stuff so it will feel great on your head and neck without any worry of chafing as old school wool products used to.

It's perfect for keeping those cold winter winds out and even if you wear glasses, the covering won't fog them up.

Great winter gift idea!

Finally, a winter hat with a brim

I wear glasses, and one of the most annoying things about the winter months is how most winter hats are only concerned with keeping your head warm and not in keeping snow out of your eyes. Most hoods will barely keep snow off my glasses, so it's a relief to finally have a winter hat with a brim that will at least somewhat help in keeping my glasses snow free.

It's obvious that this hat is of quality material and very warm. The fleece scarf is a nice addition. I would pay the price for the hat alone and be happy. It's by no means fashionable, but that's not what I got it for.

Big head hat

I will take the loss here because the description does say XL/XXL, but you really need to appreciate how big this is. I thought I had a big head, but this thing makes me feel like a little boy wearing his dad's hat. Clown big. The photo's are deceiving unless the guy pictured is some kind of giant. It's literally silly.

The other issue I have even if the hat fit me is that the top of the cap isn't rounded. It has two squared points at the top that form "horns" if you fill in the hat (in my case if I pull it down to my neck ??).

That all said, if you have a giant head, this is a warm and cool hat. I do wish it fit me, because it seems well made and has a nice style. I'm choosing to be fair and give 4 stars because it does seem like good qualitand warm.

Absolutely love the hat

The hat neck combo is so nice and comfortable I absolutely love them. I've got a big ole noggin so I have trouble finding good fitting hats that cover my ears and still fit loosely. This hat fits just how I want it, can pull it down for more warmth or roll up for cooling down. Made very well and super comfortable and warm. Fit is great but I got the XL one since I've got a big head.
